All integers can be represented as one of the following

6N-1, 6N, 6N+1, 6N+2, 6N+3, 6N+4

All odd integers greater than 3 can be represented as 6N-1, 6N+1, 6N+3

Now cleary 6N+3 is divisible by 3 so is not prime for all N>1

So every prime number greater than 3 has to be able to be represented as 6N-1 or 6N+1

In A Slice of Pi there is a statement that set of prime numbers may be finite. Of course this statement is not true.

If the set of prime numbers was finite then

p1 * p2 * p3 * ,,, * pn + 1 would be prime leading to a contradiction.

I think it was just coincidence that the winner was local, they get entries from all over. It has been published but good luck finding a copy, the print run has been largely sold out. Come on publishers, get on with another print run!

Sounds like a fine book. Will look forward to reading it upon publication. The Dundee International has produced some good stuff. I particularly enjoyed Claire -Marie Watsons, the ‘Curewife’ a few years back.

I always thought Dundee was a nice quiet city, judging by the tales that emerge from you all seems like I got that wrong!

I have posted details of the Dundee International at the Literary Awards UK website. Hopefully it will bring it to the attention of a few more people- too few awards for emerging writers. Why, I wonder, is it called the Dundee International Book Prize when it is so very local?
