There’s a new website started. It is a FREE community website dedicated to revitalising the short story. For authors, it provides a showcase for their work, giving worldwide exposure, and for readers, it offers free access to short stories which can be read as a text document or if selected by our members listened to as an audio file.
It’s called Shortbread, and though they’ve just started, it looks like a very professional outfit.

After complaints that Hospitalfield house was too cold, and the driveway too dark, we’ve relocated (again) to the Cliffburn Hotel.
We’re moving on 3rd November – that’s the first club night after Raymond Vitese’s adjudication.
Just as at the Viewfield, tea and coffee are again being provided. So there’s no need to bring your own!

Hi Folks
For those of you who did not venture to the grand city of Brechin for the festival drama – 11th to 13th Sept- you missed a wonderful event. Mary Rae and Jules May produced a cracking piece of work depicting three hundred years of events important to the history and development
of the community. It was some challenge and they ” did us proud “. Thank you both for an interesting and memorable time. Never to be forgotten.

theshortstory.org is a smashing website for anyone who likes writing short stories. Well worth a visit.
But, they also have a list of all the currently-running short story competitions. Have fun!

The BBC is desperate for writing, especially Radio 4 (which has a large output of ‘quality’ writing compared to the other stations). Helpfully. they provide a number of useful resources which help you to get involved.
Provided you know how to write a script, it’s not as hard as it might appear. So, if you’re at all interested in writing for radio, these notes might be helpful.
